How To Reach Spiritual Enlightenment
For centuries, mankind has sought to reach spiritual
enlightenment. We have been determined to find out why we are here, why we encounter the situations and meet the
people that make up our unique life experiences, and how we can best relate to the divine force, which created
us.
In many cultures around the world, humans have decided that spiritual
enlightenment should be predicated on religion - that is, that a certain set of spiritual and religious beliefs
represented the only way to truly understand the connection between the self and the divine.
However, in many types of modern New Age philosophy, it is thought that each
person is able to find their own unique path to reach spiritual enlightenment.
For many, this line of thought offers the freedom to explore and discover the
divine through varied religious and spiritual practices, self-awareness, and personal development.
Meditation is often a key element of spiritual enlightenment in New Age
philosophies. The path to the divine can often be found through the simple practice of turning one's thoughts
inward and letting go of the worries and distractions that block spiritual understanding.
Spiritual
Meditation
One simple meditation practice that can pave the way to spiritual enlightenment
is breathing meditation. When practicing this type of meditation, you find a comfortable position
(preferably sitting cross legged with your back straight), and turn your attention to the rhythm of your breathing.
It is important not to attempt to alter your breathing rhythm - just notice it, and allow it to lull you into a
deep meditative state.
As your mental focus on your breathing increases, you will let go of irrelevant
thoughts, and block out the distractions around you. You will gradually drift from physical consciousness into
spiritual consciousness - once there, you can begin to feel and understand your connection with the
divine.
Chakra Meditation
Another way to move toward spiritual enlightenment is through chakra meditation.
In order to connect with the divine, your chakras, or energy centers within your body, should be cleared of blocks
or negative energy.
Focus your attention on each of the seven chakra centers located within your body
- use visualization to imagine each chakra as a glowing ball of colored light that increased in size and intensity,
beginning with the root chakra at the base of your spine, and ending with the crown chakra at the top of your
head.
As you activate each chakra through visualization and intention, you will feel a
greater sense of relaxation, and a more powerful connection with your own spiritual energy.
When you are practicing meditation for the purpose of reaching spiritual
enlightenment, it is important not to force anything to happen. Let your relaxation and focus occur naturally,
without trying to “push” yourself.
You already possess the inner wisdom to reach spiritual enlightenment through
chakra meditation - allow this wisdom to emerge on its own. As you become
more experienced with meditation, you will find that this inner wisdom will reveal itself in powerful and sometimes
surprising ways.
Spiritual enlightenment is your birthright, and your task is to simply let go of
your conscious beliefs and attitudes so your divine wisdom can emerge.
